Robert Downey Jr. has been supporting Armie Hammer through his career crisis and has allowed the actor to stay at his home, after previously paying for his rehab.
On Thursday Variety reported that the Rebecca star, 35, left the Cayman Islands, where’s he’s been working as a timeshare salesman, and flown back to Los Angeles to escape public scrutiny.
A source told the publication that Hammer has been staying at a home owned by the Iron Man actor, 57, and ‘attended an AA meeting’ in the area. The source added that Downey has been providing Hammer with ‘financial assistance until he gets back on his feet.’

Hammer is staying there with estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers, 39, and their two children Harper, seven, and Ford, five.
The source revealed that it was also Downey who helped encourage the star to enter rehab last year, after his career imploded in January 2021 following sexual assault allegations made against him.
The insider confirmed that Downey paid for Hammer to spend close to six months in the Florida rehabilitation facility the Guest House.

Hammer left the Cayman Islands after news broke that he had taken on a job as a timeshare salesman because he’s ‘totally broke.’
An attorney for Hammer also told the publication on Wednesday: ‘I can’t confirm or deny the report because Armie hasn’t addressed it.’ He added that he felt it was unfair that had been subjected to a public ‘shaming’ for having a ‘normal job’.
The source also added that the actor has no plans of permanently returning to Los Angeles at the moment, though a career comeback might not be out of the question.
Downey himself has a famed Hollywood redemption story, after he returned to the big screen following multiple arrests on drug related charges, and a stint in prison.

Yesterday a source revealed to Variety that Hammer ‘is working at a cubicle’ and added, ‘The reality is he’s totally broke, and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family.’
The insider also shared that Hammer previously managed an apartment complex in the Cayman Islands, where he was living at the time in order to stay close to his kids.
According to the source, Hammer, who is the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer (worth an estimated $ 800 million at the time of his death), ‘is not on the family payroll’ and has been forced to work a regular job after his Hollywood downfall.

It emerged that he was into sadistic sex and shared rape and cannibalism fantasies with female partners.
That included telling two women he wanted to remove their ribs, barbecue them and eat them, with Hammer also accused of slicing the letter ‘A’ into one young lover’s thigh, before sucking the blood out of her fresh wound.
After the accusations were made public, the actor was dropped by his agency, WME, and was subsequently let go from various film projects, including Paramount Plus series The Offer (with Miles Teller taking over his role), Jennifer Lopez’s Shotgun Wedding, as well as the thriller Billion Dollar Spy.
He and his wife announced they were separating a few months before, after Hammer was allegedly caught cheating on her a second time.

That woman also alleges Armie emotionally abused her, although he’s batted-off all suggestions of criminality.
In classic Hollywood style, Armie checked into rehab for treatment of ‘drugs, alcohol and sex’ issues in May 2021, and emerged from treatment in December last year.
Last week, photos of the Call Me By Your Name star going into Morritt’s Resort office in what appeared to be a staffer uniform emerged, despite his lawyer previously denying claims that he’d taken up a new career.
They were followed by photos of him taken inside the office on another day, once again wearing a similar blue polo shirt while reportedly going over pricing for a unit with a couple of potential buyers.
Alleged prank: The speculation about his work started after a picture of a pamphlet from Morritt’s Resort showed the actor as the hotel’s concierge
TMZ reported at the time that during the pitch Hammer offered the potential buyers a timeshare for $ 2,020 per week or, ‘only about $ 21,000 for ten years of vacations.’
Last Wednesday, his attorney denied that the disgraced star was working at the establishment, following a viral Tweet that showed his face on a pamphlet as concierge for the hotel.
The since-deleted tweet’s caption read: ‘My friend’s parents went on vacation in the Cayman Islands and Armie Hammer was their concierge.’
The pamphlet included discount vouchers and advertised that Hammer would take guests to swim ‘with wild turtles’ and point them to the ‘best snorkeling and diving spots.’
